Wednesday, June 15, 2011
RA Sushi with Angela, May, Ruby and Diane. First day of training, meeting new staff.

Saturday, June 18
GRE at 12pm. Rented a Zipcar from 11am-5pm because the test is scheduled until 4pm. The Issue Essay was to take a position on whether or not to make hypotheses/theories without data for support. I talked about the double helix and the possibility of life on other planets. The essay at the end was something I already forgot about. Retake will be on July 18th. There were two sketchy-looking guys hanging out around my car, so I called Mom and talked on the phone with her until they left. I totally didn’t think how that would cut into the hour I gave myself to go to H-mart and drive back. With 30 minutes to go, I thought I could still make it, and turned on Alton to go grocery shopping. It was trafficky and far and I’m still not sure how, but I ended up at the District. I called at 4:59 and extended my reservation for 30 minutes, and then another 30 minutes when it was apparent I still wouldn’t have made it back in time. I drove around the school once since I still had time left, and Angela Poon called me and said stuff about going to get orange balloons. I thought we were going to Party City, so I said I’d make it back before 6. I got there and Crystal and Patty were going too. Turns out we were going to OC Great Park to take the big orange hot-air balloon 400 feet in the air to see the Irvine night sky. We learned later on that it was actually just a balloon gondola. It was 6:30 when we got our places in line and were told that our wait would be 1.5 hours, at 8:30. Well that was confusing. We took that loud buzzing thing and went to Denny’s and I had a hard time choosing what to order. I ended up getting three things, but made Patty order the pancake puppies for me because everyone else just ordered one thing. The chicken quesadilla was pretty good, and so was the breakfast plate I ordered. Everyone was all, thanks Colleen, I’m starving now. Really though, I did you guys a favor, because your appetites have increased, thus resulting in a greater appreciation and enjoyment of your food! So we ate, and I ate and ate and there were still pancake balls left, and for some reason it was extra funny when Patty said that. We split our bill and I ended up paying less than Crystal did by a few cents! Good job ordering from the value menu. I took a water to go, because the puppies left me parched. We went back to the Park a little before 8, just in case. We ended up waiting until 9:20 before we got on. In the meantime, we had fun talking about everything and nothing, then riding the merry-go-round and Angela and I watched and laughed ourselves into pieces as Crystal and Patty took suggestive pictures on the animals. I liked the mer-horse. No one wanted to go on the pig because it was too ugly. Crystal realized we were all single, and said we should have been picking up guys the whole night. We played Spin the Bottle with the lighty-up thing they gave us. Patty got Crystal, Angela got Patty, and Crystal got herself, which cracked us all up, since we were going on and on about how Crystal was so cocky. This was all before the merry-go-round. After that, we went outside on their playground for a bit, and it was one of those where it mimics a rainstorm and shows where the water goes relative to rivers and oceans and all those. I didn’t really understand it, but it reminded me of the one at one of the million National Parks we’ve been to. We took pictures with the big orange balloon and went back inside after a while. We talked about nothing again, only when “marijuana” came up, we got beeped! It was so exciting, only it had us wondering had we talked about pot sooner, we would have been on the balloon already. =) I wonder why everything was free though. I know it’s the OC, but where is the money coming from? Oh well. It made for a great double date. We finally got on, and it was so exciting! I don’t know how long we were up there, but it was absolutely amazing. (If I were to guess though, maybe 6-8 minutes?) The people waiting after us in the tent were so tiny when we were up there. It’s a good thing none of us were afraid of heights, or we would have missed out on an amazing experience. To top everything off, when we wondered out loud where Disneyland was, and the balloon attendant pointed to an area to behind us, we saw fireworks! Granted, they were so tiny we would have missed them if we hadn’t asked; plus I think the smog impaired our sight just a little. We descended after a while and I made some jokes about how the balloon would land on my side first, only it thumped right under Crystal’s feet. I’m happy the balloon was even able to lift off from the ground in the first place because I ate way too much at Denny’s. That day was one of the most exhilarating; one, because we were up so many feet in the air at zero dents to our wallets, and two, because I’m glad I was able to step out of my comfort zone to hang out with people I normally wouldn’t. We stopped by Albertson’s to rent a movie while Patty went to get her things and I went to get some conditioner. Angela and Crystal came with me and started talking about how Angela needed to get rid of her alcohol before she moved out the next day. It takes Crystal five shots to at least feel the buzz. That girl is crazy. After pushing each other in line for the movie rental and annoying the people behind us for being too rowdy and taking up two of the rental booths, we decided on “Green Hornet” and left for the apartment. Angela had to do ridiculous rounds throughout the night, twice an hour?, and I went with her. Rey finished up his shower and came over too, but he was so tired he mostly sat there falling asleep. The best part of the movie was the end where they camouflaged the car to run from the cops. It wasn’t great at all. Just about a couple of stupid guys running around playing with gadgets. The romance was there, but it was so lame. It was such a guy movie. Anyway, the credits kept rolling until someone changed it to the main menu, and that kept replaying and replaying. It was nice to just sit there and talk about nothing. Well, they talked about nothing; I was busy falling asleep. Good thing I didn’t snore ) All in all, it was a good night. We all left the apartment around 4 in the morning and I went to bed when the sun was just about to come out. Good day.

Sunday, June 19
Worked late check-in with Alison. Christine taught me how to do the sublease check-in and I got to see Susan, Bonnie and Devika! I re-met this guy whose name I always think is Sam, but is actually Chris, from my 1LB way back during first year. The furniture got transferred to me that day too. Bonnie and Susan stayed to help me set up the cage as we talked on the phone to Vanessa making sure that they were getting them situated nicely.

Monday, June 20
I overestimated my own social skills. I can’t just up and hang out with everyone now, especially if one of them is Amanda. I had reservations spending more time than necessary with her, but I was attracted to hanging out with Crystal and Patty again. Plus, David was going, so how bad could it have been? Turns out, not that great. We ended up not going to the movies at all, but just out to eat at Sushilicious. We went in Amanda’s little rice car, and she was griping the whole way about work, about how she felt left out because we hung out before, and just everything in general. We got there, thankfully didn’t have to wait long in line, and sat down. Our waiter Alex was a cute guy, and when I say cute, I mean adorable kid cute, not dateable cute. Kind of like Cute Brandon cute. Apparently he was the new guy there and another waiter came to us and told one of us to give him a fake number on the way out. He told us he got three groups of people to do that to him earlier in the day, which blew up his confidence and ego, which was probably why he was being extra nice to us. I ended up writing a number down after much argument with David that he probably should have done it. We left after that and yay for no more hanging out with Amanda. I know how Vanessa and Kenneth must feel when people come to visit not because of them, but because of the bunnies.

Sunday, June 26
Susan’s dad drove us back to Irvine and treated us out to some delicious Capital Seafood, or was it Sam Woo? It was located in a plaza with Petco, and that reminded me that I was running low on litter. I checked out a Zipcar, and this was the day I found out Priuses are really not my thing. I felt bad for making Susan and Bonnie wait, but I had to call them to make sure that the car was turned completely off in case it drained the batteries. I asked the Zipcar lady, who thankfully was understanding and nice, to change my reservation to the Civic. I’m not too sure what happened, but I guess my first reservation wasn’t canceled, just written over so that I had two cars checked out. Good thing I only had to pay for an hour extra. We didn’t plan things out well, because we got kind of lost on the way to Petco and couldn’t find it at all, tried Target, only it was Sunday and it closed early, and drove around some more, getting lost to a point where we were expecting to be approaching Jamboree, only the sign said it was Juneberry! We finally found our way out and decided to go to H-mart since I had half an hour on the clock and everything else already closed. That was also the night I didn’t see a car coming and had to turn really quickly. I was surprised after it happened that I didn’t swerve at all! That car brings out the best driving in me.

Monday, June 27
Checked out the Civic again to take Simon grocery shopping at Albertson’s and to finally get the litter. First time scraping the car against the fence due to my terrible parking. I can no longer say the only thing I’ve ever run into is the curb. We dropped off his stuff at Park West and he asked if anyone wanted to go with us to get food at Aloha. Spencer and Martin came. I felt so bad. I know it’s wrong but I came to rely too thoroughly on Simon to tell me where to go and when to turn and change lanes. I changed lanes without really checking and cut off someone, who honked really loud at me. But on the bright side, I didn’t swerve again! We pulled into the parking in front of Aloha and I parked so bad. I had to extend the car for another 30 minutes because I thought we’d be staying to eat longer. I should have thought that I was eating with guys who eat faster than Simon. I dropped them off and had way too much time on the clock still, so I called Susan to see if she was still at the ARC and she was! I picked her, Bonnie and Jenny up, and we went inside to see Jenny’s apartment. I liked their room and giant closet that spanned a whole wall.

Wednesday, July 13
Don’t know what happened that night, but most of the Posse was on Facebook and mass spammed everyone with likes, comments and everything. Notifications popping up everywhere made me feel special (:

Thursday, July 14
Jenny, Susan, Simon and I went to Spectrum. HPDHP2 premiere, and there were people dressed up everywhere. There was a Mad-Eye moody, I think a Bellatrix, lots of Harrys and regular school wizards, and this lady with a giant emerald velvet cape that dragged on the ground. We had Johnny Rocket’s. I meant to keep ordering fries since they were unlimited, but couldn’t. Saw Clever, Kevin Limtao and their Evenstar people. So jealous they’re still so close! And they wore some matching t-shirts.

Monday, July 18
Second GRE. Math: 720, didn’t finish the last question! Verbal: 550 ): Sped through the new GRE stuff to get my scores. Day to unwind from all the stress and go watch Harry Potter with the same people we watched Part 1 with, plus Karen and Anthony. Flamebroiler first though. We were out from 5-11:30. $30 for Zipcar cancellation, so never doing that again. Target after, where I got carded for compressed air.

–>I was the only one who noticed Harry’s green eyes when Snape was looking into them as he was dying “We were in Japan actually, when it was released. And uhm, the Japanese version hadn’t come out, but the English version was out there. So I got it, and cause I was on Holiday, I turned my phone off so nobody could tell me. I blitzed through it in like two days. I couldn’t put it down. I remember I was on the bullet train, and the part what happens to Fred, and I was like, (makes a distressed sound). And literally at that second, the ticket guy came around, asking for my ticket, and I was like, “I just died, mate, leave me alone!”—James Phelps, on reading the last book.

–>4. Hedwig and HERMIONE’S NOT AN OWL.
Hermione: Ronald would like me to tell you, that Seamus told him, that Dean was told by Parvati that Hagrid’s looking for you.
Harry: Well you can tell Ron that—
Hermione: I’M NOT AN OWL!

Thursday, July 21
Yen and I went to Souplantation. Called me from her car getting out of her Anatomy final, but I had discussion at 12. So I ran back to our place by 1 and then we went! I extended my break until three, to give us ample time to get back. Yay for Hello Kitty Yogurtland later in the day! Fot the red HK one. Need to get blue Chococat later. Green Kerropi and pink My Melody in a month. Ana snapped at Jenny for alcoholic references. Took me completely by surprise. Susan and I biked back to CV from the bookstore. I miss Helen’s bike.

Friday, July 22
Souplantation again with Susan. Buy 1 lunch and two drinks and get other lunch free. Crunchy island pineapple tossed salad, island coconut chicken and lime soup, kind of like a curry. The sourish, spicyish kind. Mango coconut mousse, taste was great, texture made me want to puke after a while. Around $14, Susan treated (so nice of her!), and I paid almost $18 for the car. No Civic, so I went with the Mazda. Scary drive. It goes into manual too. And I got scared. Emergency brake. It shuddered like a manual drive. I figured it out and then it was fine after that. I was scared because I couldn’t accelerate fast enough for a left turn and got honked at. Dropped Susan off, and the clock said it was the 56 or 54 or something, and I’m all yay! Just in time, when I locked the door, it was the 51 -_- oh well. Back to work, cleaned out rabbits, first time in a while, so it was gross and smelly. Took about an hour. Crystal said she needed to get a pink shirt, and I’m now waiting for her call so David, Rey, she and I can go. The Proposal was on the other night. Rey, Crystal and I went to the District and sat in front of the fountain in front of AMC and talked until late. 11? It’s funny how that always seems to happen.

Saturday, July 23
Jenny to Fashion Island. Almond pretzel and their raspberry lemonade from Auntie Anne’s. Victoria’s Secret. Dress from F21. 18something +tax.

Monday, July 25
Susan bought me half-dozen Krispie Kremes! So nice of her! First time in 8-9 years?

Thursday, July 28
Susan and I went to Berkeley Dog and had funnel cake fries, then Yogurtland. Did we watch Inception and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days that night? Regardless, it was fun.

Saturday, July 30
Ma’s birthday party
Lots of family
Babies! I surprisingly got along well with them
Pictures! Timmy and Isabelle, good thing she doesn’t understand our language. Because I talked shit about her mom thinking it was Moi.

Monday, Aug 15
IKEA with girls, dinner there
Helped pick out shower curtains, got fish ice tray

Tuesday, August 16
Vanessa took her rabbits back. $65 for 8 weeks! Rudy prank called me and scared the crap out of me: from Western Union, asked about everyone I know, kept going on about getting lunch. Susan, Rudy and I went to Tacos ‘n Co. First time I backstabbed donut aunt and bought a 95cent donut from someone else; it wasn’t all that great. Visited Puerta, so pretty! Bathrooms are huge and nice. Makes up for the crowded room by a lot.

Thursday, August 18
Rey, Angela. Juno in the TV Room for a little, reservations for Sushilicious. $4 for red plates, and something for pink plate ($2.50?) Good thing UCI students get the $2 deal. 6 plates for me. The night would have been weird without Angela chattering away.

Saturday, August 20
Aithuan, Simon, Jenny, Mike, Brian. Egg pudding shaved snow at Balcony Grill at DJ was amazing, but the rest of the food was just okay. Pricey though. All of us squished in the car, me sitting on the floor on the way there and Aithuan on the way back. No entry. Starbucks walking on the way back so I could finally get the cake pop back for Maria. Birthday one for me, and we disturbed everyone studying in there. Dirty looks all around. Jenny was being bitchy to me when I didn’t know how to use the TV Guide on the remote, mean to Brian when he didn’t know how to play Mahjong.

Monday, August 22
That ass Rudy prank called me again in a girl voice, Billy!, around 10, picked me up at 10:30 and promised it would be a couple of hours max. I was sleepy and tired, so I knew I wouldn’t feel as awkward with new people. It surprised me Christina knew everyone, so I was the only new one. She and Vikram were in Wilson’s hall first year. We thought John was going to beat up Rudy after he told us they slapped each other, the same John Susan and I watched Rudy dog that day in front of Subway while eating the backstabbing donut. Haircut is an alcoholic drink. Camino for the first time! Rudy was being actually very nice, telling Christina to keep me company while he left the room. They were photoshopping Oompa Loompas, Guess You! was fucking boring. Chris-topher was a bitch, so were the rest of their friends, so good thing they left. I still don’t understand why Apples to Apples is such a fun game, Mario Party, Smash a little, pool which I sucked at. Stayed up talking and wanting to go back, and finally left around 5:30. 7 hours! Talked crap about Dallas right in front of him as he was thrashing around. He’s nice but total douche bag potential. Went to sleep at 6:45, woke at 11:15ish. I realize that’s 4.5 hours, so right on the cycle, so I wasn’t as tired as I could have been. Still tired though.

Thursday, August 25
Kenneth and Vanessa’s great idea to have a Dumpling-Making, Potluck Dinner Party & Game Night! I thought a carton of ice cream was too little to go around so I went across the street to get another. Very convenient. Ana was being dramatic, Jenny was not being that nice. Made pork dumplings, Susan’s ants on a log, Jenny’s deviled eggs, Simon’s fried rice, Aithuan’s cookies and my ice cream together to make sandwiches were all good. New Taboo was fun. Pooping man came up a lot. Simon called Martin to drop me off at CV. His dad’s truck, Kat shifted gears, the 4 of us were squished into the front row, cops! They followed the cops back after dropping me off apparently.

FEB 19TH: Rachel came to visit yesterday! Haven’t seen her since GradNight, and I’m so happy it wasn’t awkward when we stopped talking. Karen was there too, and she gave Rachel a ride to Susan’s place, and we hung out from 1:30ish to 3:30ish? I meant to be back by 1, but Yen and I were toilet paper shopping at Target. That was the day I discovered Subway’s February $5 Footlong deal! After, Karen drove us back to the ARC and we hung out with Rachel and her Volleyball Tournament group for a little, and I worked out with Susan. Honestly do not know why I don’t go more often. We did ellipticals and treadmill for 30 minutes, went upstairs and did the circuit for around the same amount of time and finished up with running 3 laps on the track. That’s a little over a quarter of a mile! The circuit was hard, since I had to work on the machines for 45 seconds and 15 seconds rest to get to the next one. Once I got off the one I was working on and adjusted the weights for the next one, the 45-second countdown already started. I sweated, and it kinda felt good! I’m happy it wasn’t pouring when Susan and I left. We walked quickly and it took us around 20 minutes to get back to CV. Don’t remember what else I did that day, since it was a week ago. I’m slow to update.

FEB 23: Finally met with Larry Cabral for research for next quarter. Last time, he got sick, after rescheduling again because he couldn’t make it on Tuesday at 10 AM, even though he said any time Tuesday works for him. For some reason, my left eye gets irritated easily when I leave contacts in there for too long. I spent a few minutes taking it out and changing into my glasses before meeting with him. He talked to me for a bit; I told him about my major and why I wanted to be there (mentioned something about intrinsic value in every organism, which interested him and got him on a tangent to explain how ecology and evolution shouldn’t be separated). I asked about how else they were stimulating the flies besides starvation, and I don’t remember what he said to that anymore. He said Mueller and Rose were working together in Bio 198 research or something, and that Mueller’s lab was looking to have the flies evolve toward giving birth to live young, and that they were seeing progress already, even though they started the experiment during the summer. Amazing. He had to swat flies away from his face a good number of times. He told me the position was open, and the opportunity to do Bio 199 was there; all I had to do is prove myself capable. I need to be organized, display strong leadership and be willing to work hard to get myself to where I want to be in lab. I’m excited for this.

FEB 24: Chem midterm. The prediction of products was simpler than the predicting NMR structures. Those were worth so much. Can’t believe I missed the ozone for the oxidizing reagent. Too many reagents to memorize for that. At least reduction was only 3 types. Happy there wasn’t much radicals ones, because I didn’t learn that at all. I just know the electron meets in the middle of nowhere. I skipped Art Studio this whole week. I prepped for lab presentation on Diels-Alder. I spoke too quickly, and kept saying “this thing.” I couldn’t even come up with “pi and sigma bonds!”
Steven Lam was probably annoyed at me. Simon was great. He explained the hydrolysis mechanism and explained it clearly why we didn’t get products when wannabe our friend guy asked him. Vanessa told us that day that Douchebag’s name is Kevin. Simon and I found out Douchebag #2′s name is Jason today. He was running on 5-Hour Energy and couldn’t measure out the magnesium so I had to help him out. I seem to always take gloves out in between his lab partner. It’s like cutting him off. Also, the acetone too. This took the whole 4 hours, almost. The last one too! Simon told me about the dry ice and how it expanded a water bottle until it got really fat. He took a picture of me with irritated eyes. I was leaning in to check and let my guard down and now he has another ugly picture of me.

FEB 25: I cleared out my entire schedule to finish it on the last day. No work, thankfully no bio discussion and I also skipped chem midterm review at 4. I was about to print out my third one when MS Word completely shut down. I spent 20 minutes trying to recover it, but I had to retype the whole thing. I rushed through my 4th one, and that was as far as I got. I matched the structures to ones found on Wikipedia, so that was pretty good. I printed all that I had out, left at around 4:52 PM, and starting galloping through the rain to get there on time for the 5 PM deadline. Near that shady area to get straight to RH’s steps, I saw Kenneth’s roommates Harrison and the Asian one walk quickly too. When we got closer, one of them looked down at his watch and started running. I ran too. There were these girls in heeled boots who were gasping and saying that they ran from the Science Library. We all waited for the elevator and the big one came down. The two guys who were getting out looked surprised at the mob of people waiting to get in. I swear there were around 15 people crammed into it. No one asked for 4th, or god forbid, 2nd floor. I think we all would have screamed bloody murder at them. The elevator deposited us on 5th floor at 4:58 PM. We all clamored out and rushed toward the mailboxes. There were several TAs lining the walls and the stock people were there too. One TA looked at his watch and said, “One minute.” With everyone pressing in on poor little me, I couldn’t find Dave’s mailbox. Then I did and squeezed myself out of there and headed toward the elevator. It came up and a few people came with it, and someone told them to hurry, they only had less than a minute left, and they tore off. Someone said they didn’t finish it either, which made me feel better, even though that’s completely bad. I can’t believe these people will be our doctors in the future. It was really windy by the time I got out there again, and I tried to use my umbrella, but the wind kept changing directions. I got wet anyway. I hung out at Ana’s apartment and we all watched “Minute to Win It” for two hours. Those best friends were the best team I’ve seen. They complimented each other well. I can’t believe we spent 2 hours watching people on TV play with household items. I went back to my apartment and Yen and I went to BCD Tofu again and I explained to her that she doesn’t have to worry when she’s with me, since every time I need to step outside, the rain has either stopped or died down. We talked for nearly 2 hours, and it felt like a date, because we were learning things about each other. But not that way of course.

FEB 26: I got to see Byron Valencia in the morning at work. Christine and Jess didn’t get there until 9 or something, even though I was supposed to open the Front Desk at 8:30. Alison came to take the rest of my shift and I left for SSPA to take the practice GRE. I scored 500 for the Quantitative Analysis, and 540 for the Verbal section. It’s not too too bad, but I need to work on it to raise it to at least a 700 for the math portion. It’s just like the SATs again, only much harder. The GRE people confused me. I still don’t know if I should take them before the change, and study hard for them, or wait. If I take the classes, which cost $100 more than the Princeton SAT Prep we had to pay, after the $100 off, I’ll have to find transportation there. Mary, Angel and Fenny came soon after, so I had to think of those issues at a later date. I haven’t seen them in so long! I forgot how often Mary keeps saying “…What’s that called?…” Fenny was nice, but a little shy. I’m happy we got to the point where we were able to tease each other at the end of their stay though. We hung out in the laundry room with Susan for a while, then followed her back to her apartment and watched some NICK. Ana was there, without makeup, not at any of her events. It was a nice change. I teased her about having so many connections in Riverside. We went to my apartment and made some pho and funfetti cake and waited around for Angel to leave. When she did, I took the cake I was making out of the oven to let it cool, ran to take a shower, came out to a sleeping Fenny, started watching “The Hangover” with Mary, went back to the beginning when Fenny woke up and started watching with us, and checked the cake lots of times in between. We promised to save Angel some, but kept devouring it. I cut it into 16 pieces instead of 25 this time, and it seemed a lot less. We went to the CC to get “Shallow Hal” after a long time trying to find a chick flick all of us agreed on. We set up our blankets on the floor of the living room, and talked and talked until 1:30ish until we were tired out, and fell asleep. It hurt my tail bone and hipbone and everything else when I woke up the next morning. Mary told me she didn’t hear me snore, just breathing deeply, which made me happy. The next day we went to lunch at Shin Sen Gumi in Fountain Valley with Angel’s friend Sherry, who was one of those girls who knows she’s pretty and acts all stuck up about it. I suggested BCD, Ajisen, Guppy, and that area, but they were all, I know someplace better. I assumed we’d be eating at a place close by, but I guess not. We waited for the longest time for a table, but they didn’t let us in until our 7th person came. It was really Japanese. We had to take off our shoes and everything. I was wearing my barefoot socks. It was pretty good. I used sesame oil in it, wanted to try the miso but didn’t, and wanted to try a tiny dumpling but didn’t. I should have ordered the noodles hard though. I don’t know why I didn’t, since that’s how I usually like my noodles. I didn’t know what to say the whole time. Wen was the only nice one out of all the people I just met. He at least talked in my direction. Angel and Danny didn’t seem to resonate. She liked him too much. Her expectations are too high. I had a small deja vu moment when I met him though, because it reminded me exactly of Ana and Ryan. Wen was nice enough to give Mary, Fenny and I a ride back to CV. I did some laundry. We gossiped. We went to Cha after a while, I finally got popcorn chicken meal and had black almond milk tea with little bobas. I found out that day I’m a slow eater, but it’s just because I don’t want to be the first one done eating with others, so I slow down and wait for them, but before I know it, they’re all done and waiting for me. We walked back to Angel asleep on top of my covers, thankfully (I saw those dirty feet), I turned on the Oscars to watch Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore sing their duet, we talked a lot about Danny and Angel and Yen came back and we kept talking and talking, and it was such a good day for me, hanging out with girls and being able to act like one and lean against them and hit them and talk about what works and what doesn’t work about our bodies. I never get to do that! They left a little after 10, I declined their invitation to go eat again, and I absolutely loved that I was able to hug people like a normal person! These aren’t even people I’m the absolute closest to, maybe except for Mary, and I get to be who I want to be around them. I cherish these kinds of releases from the person I feel like I’ve turned into. Those two days were amazing.

FEB 28: Last day of February! I got two Subways. One with Helen and another with Kevin. I finally tried other breads, herbs and cheese and honey oat, which is painful against the roof of my mouth when toasted. This was a good day regardless of that, since my plants finally appeared! Too bad Mary couldn’t see it. I was so excited! I had to register for classes too, and it just so happened again that I didn’t get into the bio class I wanted with Tsai, so I just kept refreshing it at night and got in! Things just work out for me sometimes. And I love it when they do. Mary came again because she and I both forgot her camera was in my bag, and I forgot about showing her my plants again! Helen and I started watching “The Bachelor” at 9, which I completely forgot it started at 8, and Yen came in a few minutes later to watch until the end with us. Yay for Emily still staying in! I love her genuineness and beauty and the way she holds herself, and I admire that she is able to care for her daughter as a single mother in a beautiful home. I didn’t feel as bad for declining their invitation to go eat again, as Angel was heading toward Mesa to pick Sherry up. No loss there.

MAR 1: We were to meet at 8:15, and I woke up at 8:09 after realizing that I haven’t heard my alarm for a while since it started ringing at 7:15. I rolled out of bed, threw a sweater on over my PJ t-shirt, pulled on some pants, washed my face quickly, brushed my teeth, popped in some gum and took off for the Front Lawn. Jerry and Rodrigo were there and Rodrigo was all, go take a nap, which got Jerry laughing. I ran toward the Housing Office and stumbled into the Conference Room and everyone laughed, because my eyes were still red and half shut and it was so obvious I just woke up. I wanted to check people off for my cluster so I can laugh at Helen and Marina when they came in, and so I could say hi to Mervin on one side, and Ana and Susan and the rest of them on the other side when they came to check in. None of them came, except for Mervin, who didn’t see me, and Jenny, who was frustrated her file was on hold so she couldn’t register. I had a glazed and sugar twist after. I like the glazed more. Only 14, including me, out of 64 people showed up to check in. I wanted to help out because I’d rather be up and dressed than scared out of my sleep and in PJs. Christine actually LOL!-ed in her reply back. Piggy bank program was also that day. I took a long time to decide to paint my pig the same pink as Helen’s. I painted a matching green one, and let my poor sister pick one. I’m so sad she and Chris broke up. It doesn’t make it easier when you see something coming. It hits you just as hard. I was late to chem this morning just talking to her on the phone. We never talk like that. She finally opened up to me, even if it’s about such a devastating thing to her, and I still haven’t done the same to her. It’s moments like this when I wish I were at home instead of 50 miles away, but I guess it wouldn’t have gone as smoothly if I were with her, since we’re not that kind of people, as much as I wish we were. All in all, this was my first blog for the entire quarter, my first published blog since I got my job, and it was an eventful week for me, even though this would be nothing to those social animals I will be always jealous of.

SATURDAY: Kevin, Shang, Jenny and I went to District’s AMC to get tickets for 7:45PM the next night. Shang paid the combined cost of 13 tickets for $141.50, which included 2 coupons for $7.50. Had some BLT Subway. No cilantro. $5. Toasted. Ate the whole thing. Cup of water. Couldn’t wait for the next day.

SUNDAY: NEXT DAY! Slept at 2 last night and woke up at 9:30, which was pretty weird, because the night before I slept at 1 and woke up at 12. Hopped out of bed at 10:30 after some light dozing and snoozing and did some laundry, while wasting all my time in between. I had to finish up my last lab writeup and start on the polisci paper, which I have absolutely zero idea about how to start. So we all had to wait and wait for Shang to finish his damn shower and it took an hour. He and Kevin came to pick me and Aithuan up to pick Simon up from Park West. We decided to all meet at In-’n-Out, but Bailey had to pick Ana up from Spectrum. So we waited. And waited. I found out today that In-’n-Out uses two slices of cheese, because we waited close to an hour and it took about that time for the cheese to separate. So I scarfed down my fries in the meantime, even though I still have my cough and will most likely pay for it soon. We waited some more and Susan finally called, so once I saw them get in line, I inhaled my grilled cheese and was done just after they came back from placing their order. So we were done and waited some more while some of them went to Trader Joe’s to get snacks. Then we were ready to go! I was squished into the middle with Aithuan and Simon, and they kept talking right in front of me and hassling me. I hassled them right back. We got to the theaters and the guy couldn’t even rip with the perforated line! Vanessa and I were not happy. So we got in line and hung out for a few minutes and they let us in. Some commercials started and Tashie came! We all waved frantically! Some of the commercials were hilarious! Like Cowboys vs. Aliens, which was weird enough already with the whipped balls James Bond without them showing the title. According to Aithuan, it was the last exorcism. The Red Riding Hood, Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Tron trailers made me want to watch them all, even though I had no idea what Tron was about except lit-up suits. There were ladies and other people all around us who started to get annoyed because we were all so chattery, but I’m happy we were mature enough not to whisper every single little thing to each other like with When in Rome, Shutter Island, and Ironman 2. So proud of us! I’m happy I got to sit next to Aithuan. He was as funny was I expected. There was a scene were things were really quiet and he meowed. “:O There’s a cat in here!” HAHAH! And when Harry and Hermione were dancing in the tent, he was all, he’s gonna get some tonight…..She’s not ready. LOL! Definitely will watch Part 2 with him again if he goes. I was sad I didn’t get to sit next to Kevin! The movie was excellent. For someone who hasn’t watched it before, it was possible to logically follow the plot, but I thought it followed the book too much. They didn’t really add anything extra, like in the 6th movie. That was exciting. Still, it was the best. Ana, Tash and I were crying 2 minutes in, when Hermione had to erase her parents’ memories and her adorable baby pictures. Hedwig dying, George’s ear getting cut off, though that wasn’t as well executed as it was in the book, Dobby getting stabbed as he was saving everyone from the Malfoy Manor were all parts that made me teary! )’: There were lots of scenes that alleviated the tension, like when George walked in with a toothbrush sticking out of his ear and said good morning to the making-out Harry and Ginny, and when Ron was brown-nosing Hermione when they voted to go to the Lovegood’s house. I know they had to speed everything up, but it felt like Ron’s leaving wasn’t a huge deal because he wasn’t gone for long. The Horocrux scene was really unexpected. Everyone thought it’d just be kissing, but they were half-naked. I get the symbolism and everything, but it was really really unexpected. She looks hotter with completely clear and blue-ish skin. Ana and Tash were so excited. The scene in Godric’s Hollow was good too. The snake part and everything. It scares me when a snake opens its jaws to eat the audience. Every time. I was so sad when the movie ended. I knew it was coming, but I was still so sad! Dobby dying was so depressing to end the movie at. When the credits rolled, Kevin stood up and was all, OH DOBBY! and everyone stared! It was hilarious! Aithuan was so depressed Cho Chang never showed up. Can’t wait for the second one. There was a big ball in the middle of the waiting area, and I took a picture of tiny Vanessa kicking it when we got out. I can’t believe after so much pushing and shoving we finally got 13 of us, except Mike and Jon and Cecilia, to hang out together. It was so hard settling on a day to work with Ana’s busy sorority schedule. Subway after, and since it’s Sunday, it was any footlong for $5 each! I got a tuna to make my breath stink and this time I remembered the cilantro. We stopped by Park West for a little and I saw all Simon’s roommates in person and I thought Kyle was a lot darker. Martin’s bed does NOT take up over half the room. Simon needs to stop exaggerating. I cradled my tuna sub back to my apartment, ate a quarter of it, saved the drippy rest in a box and it’s in the fridge now, waiting for me to devour it tomorrow morning before my 9 o’clock King lecture.

MONDAY: Yay, I finally got it today! It’s the 30th of August. The deadline was the 20th, and I turned it on the 12th. They left me a message at 8 something in the morning, and for some reason I didn’t get it until 1 in the afternoon. I asked if I could schedule mine for the 13th of September, but they only had August 31- September 2. I asked for 3:30 and she said okay, but called me back about an hour later and left me a message that said they only have 7-10AM. I called back (this was 2PM) and asked for the 10AM one, but in the amount of time I cleared it with my mom, that was gone too. I had to go with the 8:30AM one, which means I’ll have to be out the door by 6:30AM or something to beat the morning traffic. It so easily could have been September 1-3, so I’m not complaining much. As it is, I have less time to panic. I’ll just dress nicely tomorrow and dazzle them, hopefully!

TUESDAY: Still can’t believe my luck! I could so easily have had to pass up my interview time! I got out of bed at 5:25 or so today, got my hair and minimal makeup ready, dressed in my senior picture knit sweater (good thing it was cold in the morning or I would have looked stupid), black skinny jeans, and borrowed my sister’s black flats. They were too big, so I thought I’d remedy the problem by stuffing socks in the toes, but it was so hard to walk and my arch hurt after. I studied my interview book and my cheat sheet to remind of of my achievements and things until 8 or so. I left the car and started walking toward the Housing Center, met up with Shang for a few minutes and then went in at 8:15. That Lee’s girl was the receptionist and I sat there and waited for maybe 10 minutes. I already turned off my phone and couldn’t see the clock, so it was hard to tell. When Robert (I think) and Crystal, the girl I scheduled my interview with yesterday, came to get me, I forgot to throw out my gum, so I took it out and quickly stuck it to the clutch I was carrying. Ugh, that’s so gross, but I did what I had to do. I dropped the gum and got distracted a little into the interview, but found it after. Anyway, they asked me the usual things: talk about myself a little, my strengths, weaknesses, contributions, when I worked with limited supervision, when I dealt with a difficult customer, why I’m interested in the job. They asked me what I’d do in a scenario where the phone’s ringing, a person just walked in to ask a question, and a broken copy machine. My dad and I disagreed later, but I said to deal with the phone first after excusing myself from the person, then deal with the person. He said the person first. I don’t really remember what they asked me, but I said, “um,” a lot. Actually, it was more like, “UM!” and then I started answering the questions they asked. A number of times they asked two-part questions, and after answering the first part, I’d totally forget to address the second. I really could have articulated better, not rambled in some places, but I think I made up for a little of it by not sounding too nervous, being enthusiastic and having the background for the position. I was scared when he said they’re choosing only six people. If my calculations are correct, if they interviewed from 7AM- 3AM for three days, 24 people will be rejected. All in all, I was satisfied with my performance and quickly stumbled out of the room when excused, my feet hurting more and more. My dad got mad for keeping him waiting, but gosh, it’s not like I see Irvine people every day now, is it? I hope I am more patient than he is. My mom got to go to great-granddad’s thing today, and we stayed at the shop. I was feeling kind of good today because I did the best I could under the circumstances I was thrust upon. We went to the library and I was 30 or so pages from finishing up one of those chick books I read, and my dad didn’t have his library card with him. I used my driver’s license and asked the lady if I could recheck that book out under my card and she said no, it’s library policy. I went ahead and checked out the other books and asked when the pink book I was reading was due, and found out it was the day after we would get back. I apologized and changed my mind and asked to return it. She made my day when she said something along the lines of, you know what? Kindness goes a long way, with me anyway. I’ll go ahead and check this book out for you. I didn’t think I’d be happier than when I finally walked out of my interview, but something like this has never happened to me before! There was this warm and fuzzy feeling inside of me, and I felt like nothing could make me sad. She told me that most people would have been rude to her, and it’s wrong, but so true. I really and honestly like her, because of the sense of humor she showed last time when she laughed hysterically at something I accidentally said or something, and because of today. I know I looked really stupid, but I couldn’t stop smiling. I was that happy. I really want that job, but I think if I find out on Friday or the following Monday that I’m not selected, I won’t be as sad as I would be if it weren’t for the nice librarian. Small acts of kindness really do go a long way, and something seemingly insignificant a stranger had done for me changed me. I’m happy, and that’s not something I can honestly say every day.

YAYY, my very own “da sweeming” thing. I managed not to get my hair wet at all, until the last hour. We got dropped off around 10ish, and got out around 3. Good thing I slathered on some lotion, because I would have died if I hadn’t. Or at least look like a nasty tomato, like my sister! We had some lunch and hung out in the living room to play that Yoshi Tetris game thing until 4:30. Then back into the pool until 6:30. I sat in the ring almost the whole time the first few hours of swimming. My back tanned to the shirt I was wearing, but my legs still looked the same color, so I sat on top of the slide for maybe an hour? Or less? I felt the burn a little, but shrugged it off, because I really thought it was really minor. Cody was so cute when he stuck his head near the bottom of the slide and watched Melinda come down. The second later hours I swam around a little. We slid down the slide with three people. I was scared it was gonna collapse. Those last two hours successfully pushed my tan over the threshold and I was bright red by the time I got out. We went out to Thai food, and had crab cakes, shrimp rolls, papaya salad, beef jerky, red curry, that hot and sour soup where you light a fire underneath it, and Thai tea! I knew the two refills were too much, and I was right. After I drank it all, I felt like I was going to the restroom to wash my hands and die. I wish I looked for a peppermint because my stomach seriously felt like it was going to explode. My legs were burning the whole time. We played with the Onstar phone thing as we drove him and I went to take another cold shower. Most of me was shaking, but my legs felt really good. Once the shower stopped and I accidentally dripped the rest of the shower water from my hair onto my legs, it started burning! It’s been years since my last sunburn and I’ve totally underestimated the pain that results from it. I can’t even talk nicely. The bad part is that just the top of my legs burned. The back part tanned a little, but there’s a definite line where I got burned and the rest of my legs. I still can’t straighten them without them burning. Too bad my camera can’t pick up just how red my legs are. My back doesn’t hurt as much, but my shoulders itch a little. Good thing I was smart enough to put sunscreen on my face and arms! Ugh, I’m taking a break from swimming for a while. Definitely not next week. Good job, now I’ve increased my chances of skin cancer to an extra 30% or something.

Thursday: The blood truck came again. Ana asked me if I wanted to donate blood with her, and I said yes. I was really scared, but, unlike Kevin, I sucked it up and went. I knew it’d be the last blood drive before the end of the year, and I needed to do this. Donating a pint of blood, even though it seems so much more, can save three lives. We went after lunch at Brandywine with Jenny, Kevin, Shang, and Kenneth. Shang and Kevin came with us, but disappeared after sometime as I was reading the manual thing. I was really scared. Then the nice lady took us to the Emerald Bay room and we waited for a little and some mean lady called me into the partitioned rooms, and asked me for my info and then put a plastic thing to my right middle finger. I was in the process of wondering what that was, AND IT PRICKED ME! I had no idea it was coming, and it almost discouraged me from donating. The mean lady asked the other nice older lady if 12.2 was okay, if the limit is 12.5. They were testing for my RBC count. The nice lady did it again, but she fumbled around with it for a little, which scared me some more. The blood that kept flowing out onto the napkin made me a little nauseous. After taking a survey on the computer, then waiting a little more, I went out to lie on the cot. It pricked, but I thought the finger one hurt more. I had to squeeze a stress ball and felt the blood gush out. It was nasty because I felt the heat of my blood flow out of me through the tube and into the pint-sized sack. It took 10 minutes, and an additional 5 minutes since it was my first time donating, I was excused to go get some refreshments. I watched Ana’s blood start pumping out, and that was a little better than mine coming out. I got a bright red tape thing to hold the gauze thing to my puncture. Bonnie told me later that her RA had one too, and she was all, what, does he think he’s cool or something? The Ana was done and we sat down and had some refreshments and waited for her class to start, since she skipped the class she should have been in. I wondered if it would be okay to take a few things out, since I knew the rest of them would like some Oreos and some Cheez-It’s. Ana told me this, as she shoveled lots and lots of food into her bag, was why she donated blood. I love that girl!

FRIDAY: I was planning on wearing my white V-neck and black skinny jeans and bronze flats to the banquet, and we were only planning on being there for a short while. But when Simon and Susan looked really good in blue, and Simon had the great idea of all of us coming in blue to a black and white event, we dug through our clothes to find stuff to wear. Kevin was going in jeans and a tshirt at first, but we convinced him to wear his green polo. Then Kenneth went over to get a nice blue collared shirt for him to wear. Ana couldn’t find anything so she went with Jenny to her closet to try to find things, but came back empty-handed. She found a blue striped half-sleeved shirt and paired it with a black skirt, and dressed it down with her Converses. Simon and Susan were a power couple. I changed my white blouse for my blue one and borrowed Ana’s black cardigan. Shang didn’t have anything blue, so he went with his black guitar tshirt, black pants and black shoes. They looked alright, since his pants were faded. We went to save some seats, and I found out my camera was running low on batteries, since we took 2347835756 pictures at the beach and I forgot about it. Got my charger and charged it on the icicle light decoration. It flickered on and off. When I needed it, I politely asked Shang to do it, because he deals better with people who stare at him for turning off a few decorations. He’s such a terrible sport, leaving right after we decided to camera whore. Honestly, who needs him? His constant whining is starting to bother some people. We cam whored for hours on end, then ran back to the hall to take pictures in there, because everyone was still at the banquet, but not before daring Kevin to take a picture with Marcie (another retake of Halloween), and Mike would go dance. Hassan was conveniently there, and we watched some girls try to teach Mike how to dance. I got some pictures. Then Kevin and Mike did the Titanic pose. I got the best picture. It was a good day. Some other days later we played vball, and this one douche from Lorien played with us: Jolliand, or as we like to call him, Jollyhandy. He looked good, so I asked him to be on my team, not knowing what an absolute ass he was. One of the first things he asked me: did you play in high school? followed by, is that how you always hit? and, can you set? and pass it to me! Dumb jerk, why don’t you learn someone’s name first before you start yelling at them. He kept giving everyone a hard time, and Kenneth and I totally bonded over that. Kenneth was from NY, which apparently was the reason he wanted to hit Jollyhandy. Kenneth had to verbally hold me back lots of times, because I tended to talk in a not-so-quiet voice, dissing that arrogant asshole. One time he ran over to hit the ball when it when toward the do-not-disturb sign, and hit it toward us. He was all, play it, play it, and I was all, don’t, trying to get the ball back to our side. We lost that point, but I threw it back to our server, and he looked surprised, so I clarified: we didn’t play on it; it’s our ball. He said to some people, or maybe just to himself, but it’s just a game, which got me really mad. Honestly, if it were just a game, why are you taking it so seriously and yelling at people? Is it necessary to use up all three hits every time the ball goes over to your side? And please, don’t hurry people up by clapping at them, and then looking over to me to see if we were on the same page, because we’re not and never will be. The next morning, we (Kenneth, Kevin, Shang and I) were sitting near the omelet place indoors so Kenef could see the game. He looked over and we all chittered at that person who we thought was Jollyhandy. We thought Kenef was kidding when he said he’d throw ice at him, until we heard and saw the ice slide across the ground to hit the girl sitting next to him’s foot. They both stared at it and looked around to see where it came from when we were trying hard not to react too much to it. A little later, Clever came over and I said hi to him, then something registered and I looked behind him and it was the real Jollyhandy! We threw ice at the wrong table and won’t let Kenef live that down.

SATURDAY: Good thing I chose to do Monday lab, because Matt is the best and most patient TA ever. We pester him with so many questions, and he doesn’t get mad or anything, and he held a review session scheduled for 2 hours and on a Saturday! He ended staying to answer questions for 3.5 hours. My brain was fried by the time I went back, and I had a raging headache. I shouldn’t have been so lazy to blog, because by now, the day after my sister’s graduation, I’ve missed 3 weeks of stuff from school. But this happened:

y0urbestfriiend (11:59:48 PM): that’s funny, i dreamed i was skiing
LoStxNxFoUnD91 (12:00:20 AM): haha
LoStxNxFoUnD91 (12:00:27 AM): but HASSAN’s a good ROWER
y0urbestfriiend (12:01:18 AM): and zach has a cute butt
LoStxNxFoUnD91 (12:01:59 AM): and bonnie has a bunny in her hair named simon lam
LoStxNxFoUnD91 (12:02:02 AM): but you didnt hear it from me
LoStxNxFoUnD91 (12:02:10 AM): you heard it from xoxo gossipgirl

I collected lots and lots of condoms from hard in Isengard to tape Hassan’s door the last Thursday. We did it really fast, with a huge poster that said stuff like “You should have sex with me because…” taken from Bonnie’s things all around the border of her door. We taped up 35 or so condoms and ran for the beach. Kenneth rented another Zipcar, but this was a minivan. He drove a van to Canada before. The beach was fun, even though Simon told us to turn left when it was really right, which was the first bad direction that kept us driving for two hours more than we should have been. I got really mad when Kennef told us, hurry! The sun is setting. Well who’s fault was it? Don’t ask us to hurry when you’re the ones not following our directions, giving us terrible directions, and telling us that you’d wait when you didn’t. Anyway, we almost forgot all about it when we got there, because Newport Beach is so pretty! The tiny houses that were right on the sand probably costs 4-5 million dollars! We discovered that day that Ana is a daredevil. She met the huge night waves head on and got smacked over lots of times, but she went back for more. Good thing Shang’s so tall, because it allowed me to take really cute pictures of people! I need to take that view on life. It’s admirable and will pay off. We went back after it got dark, after racing Simon, Kevin, Susan and Lily, which I came in third to only because Susan was tired , took several group pictures, and dried off. I was smart this time and didn’t look for water to wash the sand off my feet. I was so happy we got back by 10, which meant I had enough time to go eat at the last and best free finals food: buffalo wings,
and other stuff I can’t remember. It was especially delicious because we were wiped out from the beach. They went to Guppy after, but I was tired and there weren’t really enough seats. Susan, Kevin and I stayed behind, and it was fun! I took a last shower there, which saddened me, and took a picture of the foggy mirrors and another with Kevin. Throughout all of free finals food, we played Telephone, and thought about how 2 quarters ago we started the Stephanie Ashton jokes. Lily started the first Telephone and said something like “there’s a snake in my boot,” which I changed to “bloop bloop bloop bloop bloop bloop,” which Shang thought was “blueberries go bloop bloop bloop bloop bloop,” which turned out to be something about Shang and a whip or something. I have absolutely no idea how it got there! The Kevin said, watch, the next one will be, raspberries go ra ra ra ra ra! He started one: “I’m rock out with my cock out,” which I added “big” to a part of that, and that turned out okay. I think Jenny ended up saying it our loud. Then Kevin suggested one to me: “I want to jam out with my clam out,” which I messed up and said, “I want to glam out with my big clam out.” Susan said she wanted to start one out that wasn’t at all perverted: “I like coffee and strawberry ice cream,” which I thought Jenny or someone told me “the strawberry fingered the ice cream.” Pretty soon the game just turned into picking on Bonnie and making her say embarrassing things like Zach’s butt in front of her roommate! We also made Jenny say stuff like, “Run, Jenny, run!” and she quacked! Ugh, I can’t believe it took me so long to get back to this and commit myself to finishing it! It’s been 4 weeks, and I’m forgetting more and more things! Other things that happened were the Penguins versus Team Rocket sand relays. The pyramids were fun to make. The pocket girl from vball. Ana sleeping with chips all around her and us feeding and teasing and recording her. Sitting on Bonnie’s closet and taking pictures of her scenery. Collecting all the condoms to tape on Hassan’s wall and Bruce realizing someone was taking them all. Rudy helping me study for my chem final. Staying up all night in the study room next to the ping pong table. Driving Shang and me to class. Eating M’nMs, Oreos without one side of the wafer, chips, and things they had in the common room because they had $100 in Albertson’s money, getting raped in the math common final, vball court was closed for finals week just when I was getting good enough to dive and actually save balls, missing those wonderful spacious showers that we took for granted when ours was under construction and taking longer showers at home because I can’t scrub all the soap off in the same amount of time, getting a B+ in writing, B in lab, B- in math, which disappointed me endlessly due to the fact that if I’d gotten 1.5 more points I would have had a solid B, and barely passing chem, which is terrible but still allows me to take it in the summer along with fiction and seeing them and cooking and cleaning and being more independent, finally. Freshman year could not have been better. I’m still working on writing a whole post summarizing it. Might take a while, but it’ll be there. <3

Volleyball seems to be our thing now, from Pacman, to Mario Kart, to racquetball, to Sock Wars, and who knows what else. We played with Woodhall and it was funny because by the end of the night, I was all, “I got this!” to every single ball, and lost 16+ points to them. But good thing we let them win, because they were getting mad we owned them the first two games. Headnotes with Ryan Skinner, Chris Chui, and Rohan. I assumed he wouldn’t contribute much to our presentation, given that he was always late to class by 10 minutes and that he didn’t show up to our meeting at the student center, but I thought wrong. He talked the most and if we got a good grade on it, it would be because of him. A crow stepped on a chicken sandwich to eat other food. On Jenny’s birthday, she opened her presents and we oovoo-ed with everyone and Natasha at home. This was Week 5. Sometime ago, or maybe during Week 6, Elrond won Vball Champs again. I hate Chase Miller, but I’m happy they won, because we get cluster points, but I don’t know why I care about that. Gondolin actually had more skill, but Elrond has the more encouraging RA and nasty Chase. Susan came to see the end and told us Jared’s little brother was playing for Gondolin! The person we thought was him was pretty good. Elrond lost first round, won second, and we thought game point for Elrond would be intense, but they served and Bigass Tall Dude didn’t know what he was doing and lost for their team, very much like how Hassan lost for his team last year by dropping the ball on a serve.

Week 6: Fastest lab time! 6:50 we were out and I got to watch Chuck for the first time. It was the last episode of the season too. I swallowed Halls and it scared me. We watched Simpsons Tik Tok. I’m starting to like this song and watching parodies of it. I came back from some class or other and saw a post-it on my clock that said, Bring this tonight, Love Shang. I was all, a clock?? Whatever. Then I saw a similar sign at Shang’s desk, but it said my name on it. Jenny came into my room and pretended to look inquisitive, but failed miserably. She couldn’t contain herself and laughed herself silly. Simon came in and looked more convincing, but I asked him why he got it from Isengard, and he laughed. Brandywine had the gyro thing and I tried it. It was okay, I guess, but I hated the idea of eating a soft, fluffy lamb. Failed bio safety quiz #1 with a 30.857/50. I took 50 minutes taking it and missed out playing more vball. I found out it was the highest out of everyone’s: Shang’s, Sinthu’s, her lab partner Stephanie’s. She called me 11 times the night before, and I felt so bad I didn’t get the notes from the TED training I promised her. So happy I’m not taking art history. Ana sang some patriotic song and Kevin called out to her room, ANA! So cute.

Week 7, Friday: Math midterm. Meant to sleep from 4:30-6, but woke up at 8, then asked for 30 minutes more. 8:27. I beat Shang up before I woke up. Didn’t really do anything but tried to do RA and math. Didn’t really realize math was at 1. It raped me again. Couldn’t figure out integral of tanx cubed dx and it was worth 8 points. Hurried back so I could print RA, after I fixed it for 5 minutes from when I did it for Wednesday’s class. Got there at 2:35 because of printer problems. New ink that cost $15. He liked the ideas, but it was very unfocused. It was more rhetorical than literal, so I thought that was pretty good. Jotted down notes for what he said, and waited for Kevin to come so we can go check books out for my paper. Met Rudy there and accidentally slapped his face. DD: He was here last night too, and told us Hassan and Alvin talked about us. He brought Red and Christina to play vball and it was fun! We played since 6:30 and Rudy came around 9? It was so awkward hen he talked to Michael Chan when he walked by. Don’t call us little kids when your level of maturity is so much more inferior to each and every one of ours. Susan was nice and said hi (: I was a bitch. We got back and the first thing Ana said, hey want to go watch Ironman 2 when Bailey comes? Sure! We went to catch the last showing at 11, finished at 1, fell asleep for 30 minutes or so, decided to go to 7-Eleven to get some Lucas, Ana got carsick, and we just went to Jack-in-the-Box. It was a fun day. They went clubbing the night after in LA. Good thing it wasn’t V2O or they would have run into TC Prom, but it’s only 21+ on Saturdays. Jenny with her slutty dress, Bonnie with a cute black one with off-white shoes that accentuated her tan, who I never took for a clubbing person, Natasha with her teal one and sandals because she can’t dance in heels but Jenny can!, Ana with the pretty purple one, and Bailey with a nice black shirt and lavender tie! They all were really pretty. The rest of us stayed back and I played Kenneth in Mario vs. Luigi and got hustled because he has the game. I beat him anyway the second time and he screamed, but apparently his brother is better at it. I don’t like watching shows with Lily and it’s a little annoying Kevin is more public with her now. It’s even more annoying he still treats her like shit and she, with her low self-esteem, takes it and comes back for more every time.

Week 8, Sunday: Laguna Beach! I had to finish my RA to send it in to my TA, and tried to, but not hard enough, because I didn’t even turn it in before we left. Kenneth and Vanessa are so cute! Simon took the best pictures with the best camera. It’s better than Dad’s. It was really cloudy and chilly, but we went anyway, because they have the car for the day. 12 miles later, we found some parking, I paid $1.50 and Jenny paid the rest, and we went to the corner of a very busy street to look for them. Lots of beautiful dogs! Our new picture thing is holding a V to our mouses. (: We played vball, and watched some really good people, saw a sand castle, watched Shang chase after seagulls, I hit a good overhand serve, and then played with the waves a little. We took a million pictures and no one cared that there were so many of the same ones. My favorite one was when Simon had the idea to all do the V thing, and then take it off when the picture is about to take and look at Vanessa. Kenneth counted down and we looked at her, and she put her hand down, but due to Kenneth’s superb photography skills, she was left doing the V thing, except for Shang, who actually had his tongue sticking out a little. Shang runs funny, he and Simon marched into the water and ran back, Jenny was the no lifeguard on duty, I rode Shang’s shoulders as he asked for me to take pictures of the water at his legs, which didn’t work out well, Kevin and Lily stayed at the vball court watching our stuff and talking about who knows what else, Susan had the great idea to do a Best Tree tree but it got washed away before we could take a picture, Kenneth proposed to Vanessa with a rock with a heart drawn into the sand stuck on, and he threw it into the ocean, Natasha and Susan and Jenny trying to find crabs. It was the best day and I wouldn’t have traded staying back and doing my RA for it. We went back and Jenny, Shang, me, Kevin and Lily surrounded Kenneth’s car and did the naked dance. Or tried to. Kevin should have been in the front of the car, but Kenneth vroomed his engine and scared us. We drove back for yummy In-n-Out, and I was smart to get plain fries for $1.90 instead of cheese or animal for $3.20, or something. I’m sure more. I chowed down and then we went to Toppingland, as it is now called, and remembered the last time we crossed the drive ways and pissed so many drivers off. I got lots of toppings and Jenny took a picture. I forgot how good tart-flavored yogurt is! I was exhausted when we got back, but still had to work on RA. I ended up not doing too much. I remember waking up at 5 when I told Shang to wake me up after he did his load of laundry, and Kevin laughing in his sleep and I said he was really happy, and Shang telling me that if I’m going to do homework, it will have to be then, because an hour after will already be morning and I’ll have to rush. That made perfect sense to me, so I asked him to get my papers and laptop and set it up, but I never woke up again. The next morning I saw pictures of me sleeping with the cow pooping on my face. I woke up at 9ish and started work at 10ish, and good thing there’s no math because Vanessa’s taking her midterm, so there was 5 hours for me to do my RA. I finished most of it, but when 3:15 rolled around, I still needed to finish up my diction and conclusion. I went to class 20 minutes late. I’m starting to warm up to Reid and his funny jokes. I really like his teaching, and he really does provide constructive criticism and is very helpful. We watched spoofs for some Stephen King movie and Lion King, and that smartass girl was all, “that was so bad,” when it really wasn’t. It was well executed and made sense. Lab today was bad because we had to turn it in at the end. I have to study for chem now, and I gotta do it tomorrow, after I help Shang on his Sleeping Beauty essay, and no more procrastinating that much, because the material for his midterm is very dense. Off to shower I go, even though it’s 3:30 in the morning.

MONDAY: Missed out on The Day of the Locust for Headnotes, but that’s okay, because I read and liked The Secrets of Summer more. Ryan’s in my group, and Chris, who I thought didn’t care too much about his grades, but I guess I was wrong, and Rohan, who’s always 10 minutes late to class. Met Johnny and Pat, an d they’re pretty cool. Johnny’s from Crackhollow and Pat’s from Rivendell and he told me about the crack story, and said that whoever got caught wasn’t on their first offense.

TUESDAY: The fire alarm went off at 9:30 and deafened us. Shang woke up! but didn’t get out of bed. Missed chem lecture, tried to go to an extra discussion with McKeachie at MSTB, but I thought everyone was actually in the class, so we left because Dustin and I took up two seats. We played some Mario Kart while waiting for Susan, Karen, Lilian to come back from class. He beat me first time, but I returned the favor every time after that. Pippin for lunch, and I liked their pork fried rice. The pork was actually pretty good this time. We rushed Dustin and went to vball after lunch. He hits too hard. We couldn’t even rally. I called Kevin Limtao to see if he wanted to play, and he appeared on the lawn as I was talking to him! But he was too sleepy, and I meant to call Clever but forgot. Watched Supernatural with lots of people, and then went to dinner. Dustin and Lilian came after, and we had buffalo wings in a basket and something else I don’t remember. Then Dustin left and everyone went to study at Bucklebury and I was left waiting for Sinthu to call me back so we can study. Shang and I went to Albertson’s to get some juice, snacks and a plan. I just assumed Simon was studying with Kevin and Ana, and he made me feel so bad for not inviting him. Sinthu ended up not coming for math, which was great. I didn’t study that much.

WEDNESDAY: Math midterm raped my ass. But there was strawberry shortcake and pesto grilled cheese. I squished Kevin’s strawberry heart and made him sad. Then we went back and had some hot Cheetos and I dropped some in Shang’s eye because he asked for some while upside down on his bed. He hopped and stumbled to the bathroom, saying mudderasshole all the way. It rained at 3 in the morning, when I started studying for chem midterm.

LOL NICE spelling you got there!!! ~~ <3 shang
ps didnt read anything.
^thanks for reading my blog Shang, and commenting on my rough draft, even though I specifically told you it was off limits.

THURSDAY: Chem midterm was 51 minutes. We got there 5 minutes late, but good thing they didn’t start yet. There was a lower/higher part in the middle, and I thought I only got 1 right, but I ended up getting 2 right! Including the volatile one! And I still don’t even know what that means! I also got a 21/33 on my math midterm, which was a B with the curve and a point lower than what I expected if I’d gotten everything I put down right. But I guess I got other stuff right. Shang’s birthday today, and he kept saying “It’s my bursday!” and kept using that as an excuse to get his way. He wouldn’t let me walk faster when we were late to chem midterm. His mom came and he skipped off to go see her, and it was adorable. I really didn’t want to take care of his mom when Shang was off at class, so we went to Albertson’s for Susan and Jenny to get supplies for candy sushi making. He called me and asked me to come back anyway because he left his backpack in our room. I thought it was Simon’s so I left it there. I came back and no one was here. I even texted Shang on AIM multiple times, but no response. So Simon came back and complained loudly that I left him to carry a gum and 2 SoBe’s and wouldn’t let it go. They went to the kitchen downstairs and started making the sushi. I was webcamming with Jason for a little and he showed me my card, still in its envelope, pinned to his bulletin board wall, which is unfair because I kind of want one too, and then I realized I had math discussion! I tore out of there and talked about the midterm and I made some dumbass mistakes. Jenny didn’t go with me. I walked into my room sadly talking about my midterm and avoiding seeing Shang’s mom. Then Shang came a few minutes later, all shy and everything and brought his mom over. She was all, hi! I’m Shang’s mom. You can call me Mrs. Chin… or Carol, whatever you want. Susan piped up, hi Carol! to a room of silence. HAHAHAH It was so adorable! She knew Susan was the athletic one and Simon was the one who talked to her on Skype. Then she took a picture of us, Susan, Jenny, Simon, Shang, and me, and made Ana and Natasha sad because they weren’t in it too. They invited us to go get dinner with them, but it would really have been awkward, so none of us went, even after Shang called and told us to go again after. We were at dinner and I was getting a cone when Shang called and insisted that he needed help carrying stuff back. I got there and okay, Shang, don’t lie to me. You could have carried the case of water and your bursday pie and dinner leftovers by yourself. Plus he probably made his mom a little later than scheduled because he didn’t want to carry everything by himself. He told us after that they reserved a table of 10, but only two people were using it. We didn’t know, and Kevin was still in class, so it wouldn’t have worked out. We gave him his presents later, and he got a screaming monkey from Ana that didn’t work after, a Super Mario poster with all the characters except Bones from Bonnie, the candy sushi from Susan, a Sesame Street “all my homies are from the Street” tshirt from Kevin, and I got him a pooping cow keychain and cute brontosaurus and giraffe hugging each other, for Ana’s PP and Shang. It was so cute! Simon’s “I’m not a gynecologist but I can take a look” shirt didn’t come in yet, which sucked.

SUNDAY: Melinda’s going to prom! We spent all day yesterday talking about her corsage and boutonniere and how much she has to pay for it. $410! or something. I think after Chris offered to pay more of it. It’s going to be on May 15, which is the day of one of our formals too, and their theme is “Forever Young,” which is the most retarded song ever, much less a theme. Susan and I went back to Irvine at 3. Melinda curled my hair because she wanted to see how she’d do her hair for prom, and repeatedly told me that she wished her hair were longer. It’s funny because she and I cut our hairs the same time, and mine is so much longer than hers now. I can’t believe Chris and a bunch of his friends bought me such pretty things for my birthday! He and my sister split a nice white blouse, a gray short sleeve cardigan, and a longish bag. <3 I have to say that it's really good BonnieO and I got to share the embarrassment of people singing happy birthday to us. I don't know why I turn so red when people sing to me. D: But we seriously have the most awesome friends ever. Ana and Tasha got me an adorable Pacman tote bag, Simon got me Sanrio twisty crayons (now I have to think of something better to get him for his birthday), Susan got me a blue cardigan and pretty white T, Kevin got me a gold cupcake necklace, and Lily got me and BonnieO the cake from 85deg Celsius. We have the best friends ever because we make a huge deal out of everyone's birthdays. I wore mostly everything they got me the next day and was a brightly walking person anyone could see from across Aldrich Park.

SUNDAY: I meant to do work, and this is really starting to sound like a mantra, but we played volleyball, which replaced Sock Wars, against Melanie and the rest of Balin. Simon and I were on their team, and they were pretty animated, but didn’t include us too much, which was cool. People kept making fun of me, because I got my period that day and felt really immobile. I didn’t reach to get the ball, so I kept telling people to “do something.” Kevin and Simon won’t let me live that down, just like the forest thing during first quarter.

MONDAY: Volleyball against Whis Wood. It was me, Kenneth, Kevin, Shang, Jenny, and Ana, I think, against some really good people. Jacky played vball at her high school I thought, but she was their weakest player. The RA was so cool, because he was coaching them and telling them to communicate and giving them pointers. I was happy because we won a game, and the other was pretty close as well. I love that Jenny plays with us.

TUESDAY: Elrond versus Whis Wood. I was really scared, but Elrond won. Chase Miller was being retarded again. He hogged the ball when it was obviously meant for someone else diagonal to him. Simon played too! But he was subbed out after touching the ball only once. Whis Wood subbed this one guy out and then back in, so he could do his serves that gave his team aces. After much discussion, he finally was allowed to, and promptly messed it up. Their games are so much more exciting than Calmindon’s ever was. Simon showed Jenny what he would get her: a cuddly bear that she was kind of excited about, until she found out that it said “Happy Fucking Birthday!” Simon, you’re just so thoughtful and considerate. That must be why we’ve been friends since we were five.

THURSDAY: Spring Fling. I changed out of my painful flats before I went, which was a really good call, because I was dying. There wasn’t bio seminar, and we skipped chem, so my only class of the day was math discussion, which I got raped in by the quiz. Spring Fling more than made me forget about it, even though I forgot my ID and couldn’t get food. I was sad, but nice people all around me fed me and made me happy again. The first thing we did was harass the balloon animal person with requests of what we wanted. I wanted a rhino, because I saw Vanessa nearby, but he said he couldn’t do that, so I was about to ask for an elephant when Simon screamed out that he wanted one. Well, thanks Simon. I thought about getting a giraffe at first, but nah, because my Grad Night one was much bigger and better. Ana wasn’t any better at deciding what she wanted. She named all the dinosaurs that ever existed even after he said he didn’t make dinosaurs. I finally settled with an alligator, because he couldn’t make the other things I wanted. In the end, we had my alligator, Simon’s elephant, Jenny’s giraffe, Bonnie’s tuxedo penguin, Ana’s tiger, and Susan’s flower. Simon should have gotten a bear for his Bonnie bear. Our jungle balloon animals popped after we left them on the grass. Then we waited around for Hassan’s turn to get dunked. Bruce went before him, and when it was 5:49 everyone screamed for him to go on, but he told us to let Bruce have his chance. Hassan had a huge crowd around him, probably thinking that he has a lot of lovers, but really our group is composed of his haters. I didn’t dunk him, because I can’t aim well, but I scared him a little when I threw it too hard against the yellow backdrop thing. After the first person dunked him, we started running up and just pressing the button. I told Jenny to throw it hard enough so the girl retrieving the balls couldn’t see me, so I ran forward and banged on the bar until he went down. I’m happy he didn’t hang on to the side bars like he did before. Kevin ran and dunked him too, and Brad threw it really hard and it smacked the bars protecting him, which caused him to glare daggers at Brad, but we all knew he didn’t mean it. Jami tried to dunk him by pressing the bar too, but she somehow made the backdrop thing become loose, and they spent a few minutes fixing it. The ten minutes went by quickly. All too soon, it was someone else’s turn at the Dunk Tank, so we left. It sucked the Calmindon booth ran out of goldfish. But we went on the inflatables and had lots of fun racing each other through the maze to the top of the slide. Kevin went first with Susan and he came out seconds later, but Susan got lost somewhere in there and took a little longer getting out. You could hear Jenny wondering loudly into my camera where Susan was. Then I went with Simon, and I cheated by crossing straight to the other side, without even bothering to climb up the ladder thing to the slide, because I knew Simon would own me if I’d gone the real way. It took me a long time going through the entire thing with Kevin. The first part with the hole went okay, but the first hill slowed me down, because I wasn’t smart and didn’t use my momentum to let me bounce over the first hill. I tried and tried to jump over, but kept getting stuck at the top. I finally rolled over and landed on my back. I had to do it again for the next hill. Then I got confused because I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go under that one overhang, and I did, and then went through a tight tunnel to reach the pillars and wall, then up the ladder thing I went, only after realizing I was supposed to use the straps and the blocks to haul myself up. I was exhausted by the time I slid down the slide. Then I went with Susan and I went into the thing a little bit further to film her cutely rolling out of the hole. I scrambled up the ladder thing and filmed her climbing up. While waiting for Ana and Bonnie to come back from changing into more suitable attire for the inflatables, we listened for the winning tickets for the raffles. I wanted three meal tickets for Pippin, and put all three in that box, but didn’t win. It was funny when this one girl won some toilet paper. And that one guy who kicked us off the vball court when we were playing with Melanie and her Balin friends won the Wii! After, I went against Ana when she finally came back from changing, deciding that she didn’t care about her arm art anymore. I was so surprised to see her at the top of the slide already when I finally battled my way through the walls that were reluctant to let me through. Kevin filmed his race with Bonnie. I couldn’t believe how quickly he went through the entire obstacle, even going through the tunnel. He sat at the top and recorded Bonnie languidly climb up the ladder, only to be pushed down after her hard work and protests of “Kevin, stop!” That was so sad, but you can’t admit it wasn’t funny. We went on the other inflatable and Susan and I beat Kevin up at the top and threw him down the slide. We took the cutest and best group picture ever there, and with all the right people too. But Shang wasn’t in it. Oh well, because it’s his loss when I’ll upload it and possibly make it my new profile picture. I should have gotten a blue cotton candy, and maybe a snow cone, but at least we claimed the entire volleyball court. After Susan, Ana, Bonnie and Shang’s friends left, that guy with the really good serve from Whis Wood and his friend, Jacob, came to play with us. They were pretty cool.

FRIDAY: Jared asked us about Simon’s whereabouts and then invited us to practice with Elrond for their next match. I’m so sad we didn’t get him for an RA, because we’re stuck with a certain somebody else. We played 6 on 4, with me, Kevin, Shang, Jared, Kenneth and Trina against a bunch of Elrond people, including Chase Miller, who seemed to pick on Trina as much as we picked on Ana, but now Bonnie. Jon came after, and we suffered for it, because we lost Jared and gained Jon, who everyone kept getting frustrated with. I loved that everyone picked on Jared, asking who he thought he was when he was on our side and gave us all high fives when we scored a point and yelled out “Calrond.” I wonder why they didn’t get unlucky enough to get stuck with Hassan. He’d never practice with us, or even us Stan Suite play, that biased bastard. The rest of them left after three games, but we stayed and played Elrond versus Cal. I really wanted to beat Jared, because he’d be cool with it, because he is who an RA should be. Kevin, Shang and I played Mario Kart and I beat Kenneth by 30 or so points, which made him really mad, and Shang was leading by 29 points, which I couldn’t beat if my life depended on it. He got too good at it. I liked playing with Kenneth because he’s funny when he’s frustrated. We went with him to Elrond after so he and Kevin could watch some hockey game that their life depended on, judging by the intensity and volume of the sounds coming out of their mouths. We played Cranium, first me and Kevin versus Shang and Kenneth, then later me and Shang versus Kevin and Kenneth. We all dreaded rolling green, for Star Performance. But the first time someone rolled it, it was a Club Cranium, and Shang and Kevin had to pretend to be Gandhi. Kevin was all, “Where’s my camel?” which we found out later that it scared Shang, because he doubted that he was thinking of the right person. Then he said, “Let’s go make some peace,” in an Indian accent, and Kenneth screamed GANDHI! I should have gotten that. That was kind of funny, because Shang and Kenneth had to spell “Gandhi” a couple of turns later, and they decided Kenneth would do it. It was funny because Shang was the one who looked at the card before, but I’m willing to bet he didn’t notice how it was spelled. I made Shang do the spelling backwards. I reluctantly agreed to do some of the spelling, and I ended up spelling easy stuff, such as “separate” and “Mississippi.” Once I had to sculpt “speed bump,” and Kevin had to guess. I made a big speed bump, a car and a stop sign, but he didn’t get it. The main reason why all of us failed at sculpting is because of the malfunctioning clay, not because we haven’t realized the artists in ourselves. For a Club Cranium, Kenneth and I had to draw “glue” with our eyes closed. I kept drawing the glue container, but Kevin still didn’t get it. Then I drew kind of a broken beaker, an arrow pointing to the break, drew a whole beaker, and drew a glue container, but he didn’t get it either. Kenneth just drew a glue container and Shang guessed it correctly after Kenneth drew it eight times. Kevin had to hum a song, and Kenneth knew what it was immediately. It took me until time ran out to realize that the reason I couldn’t guess it wasn’t because Kevin was a terrible hummer, but because I didn’t know the song. Another time Kevin and Kenneth had “Data Head,” they had to guess the largest animal that ever lived, and the answer was blue whale. I can’t believe I was thinking somewhere along the lines of brontosaurus. It must have been all our talk of dinosaurs and Ana’s big PP lately. But still, what happened to all the biology books I looked through since I was small? Every single one of them clearly stated that the marine animals were the largest ever to live on the planet. Kenneth and Kevin were thinking along the lines of whale though; they just couldn’t get the right species. They guessed humpback, gray, then killer whale, but I’m just so smart. I said the killer whale is smaller than the blue whale, when I meant to say gray whale. Just great, because would have taken them longer to guess it, and maybe by that time, time would already have run out. But Kevin made it up to me and Shang when he gave something away that I can’t remember now. There also was this one time Shang and Kevin had to charade “bike messenger.” Kevin ran around, pretending to ride a bike, and it looked like the was carrying a messenger bag. After lots and lots of variations of similar words to “bike” and “messenger,” I finally got it, which kind of sucked because Kevin physically worked himself out more for Kenneth to get it right. there was this one time when Shang and I had to charade “paparazzi,” and I told Kevin to watch Shang a little, and when we counted off, Shang took pictures of me and I looked through the binoculars at him. Kevin and I won that one. Shang got “roller coaster,” but he was working with Kenneth, which took him a little longer than we would have taken, but maybe it was because it was silent charade only. I always made my teammate do the performances. Shang and Kenneth pretended to be Jackie Chan, and I won that one. It was funny when Kenneth was doing some fake kung fu and yelling pretty loudly. Then came the making fun of me parts. Shang had to pretend to be Michael Jackson, so he did a bunch of dance moves, including the moonwalk. I was thinking about Justin Bieber’s music video for “Baby,” and screamed “JUSTIN BIEBER!” but they all started laughing really hard at me. That stumped Shang for a while, until they read the card again and found out he could talk. He said things like “I want to touch that little boy,” and I said pedophile? Then I put it together and said Michael Jackson, and they laughed some more. Then Shang had to pretend to be Batman, and he jumped up and hummed some theme song I never remembered hearing, struck a pose, and pointed at an angle toward the ceiling. I said “Popeye,” and they laughed really hard again. Then Shang said, “Let me drive to my rich house in my rich black car,” and I said “Men in Black.” That was also received with more laughter. They all screamed “BATMAN” at me when time ran out. Kevin was all, I would have been like, come here Robin, but you couldn’t say names and places. I probably would have gotten it if he’d said “butler.” And it’s funny because we were talking about our favorite superheroes during dinner the night before too. Batman totally would not be a superhero anymore if he ran out of money or his butler decided to quit. In the end, Shang was on the winning team both times. He and Kenneth won so quickly the first time, rolling purples and getting the questions right. Shang and I won the second one with a filling-in-the-blank letters, with the hint being a slogan. I was all, it’s probably something like “Just Do It,” and I was right. We went back to Cal at 12:40, and we were all surprised at the time. A group of people were outside the Common Room waiting on the octagon thing. They were probably waiting for the TV. Elrond people are so nice. They’re so close and open and accepting, unlike some people I can name. Simon’s lucky; he just chooses to hang out with us. (:

SATURDAY: Omelets and some really good and warm chocolate chip cookies and blue slushie and half an egg sandwich and ¾ a pancake and raspberry iced tea and a strawberry cone that took a while to put together, making a nice old man wait in the process, made up my delicious brunch. My omelet was made before Kevin and Shang’s, so I went to get some real food, which kind of sucked. When theirs finally was made, I went on ahead to get a seat, but didn’t bring all my food over to the table outside. I saw a big crow perching on the green fence thing near our table, so I made a good call not to leave my food unattended. When Kevin got there, I was finishing up a cookie, but didn’t want to eat all the chocolate chips, so I went to the table nearest to us, and right after I turned my back on it, the crow flew onto the table and pecked at the cookie and flew away. That was the first time I really saw a crow eat Pippin food, though I’ve heard of it many times before. We sat down to eat and the crow came back soon after, and we watched in amusement as it pecked at some visitor’s food. A nice old Asian lady at the next table was the only one kind enough to shoo the crow away. Kevin and I left for supposedly the biggest event Irvine hosts annually, according to Jared. There was some antique car show, booths manned by the various frats and sororities, and a few rides. We saw Green Campus too, but David was too busy and Henna and Kelly and a lot of other new interns were there. We stayed there for almost 30 minutes and Kevin took pictures for his art history thing of the fake concert and we laughed at the boy doing the Velcro wall thing, then headed back. The bar thing that stops cars from passing near Phoenix Grill was taken out, which looked funny, and reminded Kevin and me of the time Shang tried to push it and screamed when it moved. For some odd reason, I decided we should go up the steep hill, and got distracted by yellow weed flowers and a dandelion and huffed and puffed our way up the hill. When we just passed the laundry room window, I asked Kevin if he had my phone, and he didn’t. I was all, we have to go down that hill again. Good thing we had markers: the yellow things, the dandelion, and the pinecone branch. We were off by a little, because we looked at the path through the taller grasses, and found my phone, ID and room key all lying next to each other near the yellow weeds. We hiked up the mountain again, and I marveled at the fact that Mervin from third floor goes up and down this all the times I’ve seen him. We went back and watched some shows, then went to dinner, where we watched one of the Pippin workers shoo a crow away from the outside tables, and I had some broccoli and beef, but not the beef, and some nachos, and I realized that I always get too little salsa for that, and had some chocolate cake and milk and some blue and a two ice cream cones: strawberry and vanilla. It’s my fault I choose to eat the one I like least first, because I couldn’t eat the strawberry one after and ended up giving it to Shang. We left because it was too cold. After wasting more time, as usual, I settled down to watch some “American Dad.” Earlier in the afternoon we were watching “Supernatural,” and Shang made me watch this one part were Sam was at his girlfriend’s grave and as he bent over to put flowers for her, a rotten hand reached up and grabbed his wrist, and I screamed really loud, also because Shang was all, HI COLLEN! at the same moment. My glasses even fell off a little, stupid loose glasses. We showed Bailey the video of Ana raping Shang and a bunch others, and I saw a mosquito on the wall after. Kevin was out somewhere talking to his mom or grandma, so he missed it. Shang wanted to kill the mosquito, but Mike kind of swatted at it and it flew towards him. I still can’t really believe it, and it took a little to process this, but Mike screamed. For real, as in a high-pitched girl scream. I was so surprised I stopped what I was doing. I saw him on Shang’s bed, trying to get to the corner to protect himself from a bug. Shang was mean and kept trying to throw him off so he could get rid of the mosquito. Mike made an excellent recovery, because he composed himself and found a cup to trap the mosquito and took it out. Some commotion went on around 11 or so, and where was I? Asleep, as usual. Kevin and Shang tried to wake me up, but according to both of them, they were shaking me pretty hard, jumping on the bed, calling to me in a slightly louder than normal voice, and I was just out. I turned around a couple of times and my eyes opened, but I didn’t know that. I was completely out. We need to stop watching “Supernatural” at night and scaring ourselves silly, because I woke up from a really weird dream. I thought I was done and showered already, but looked down and saw my reversible jacket, and I was a disappointed. Oh well, because that was a really good nap and I’d do it over again if I had the chance.

I was up since 4:15. We had some delicious Hot Pockets, chicken and broccoli, and went on our way, only 12 minutes late in getting out to go to the cars at 7:42. It took us a while once we got there to wait for a tram to get to the main entrance. Susan made sure the rest of them couldn’t go on ahead because she held all of our tickets. Kevin looked so cute in his year pass because he was only 15 or 16 when he took that picture. The first thing we did was ride Space Mountain. Shang is such a wimp, but he was hilarious. He screamed short, high-pitched bursts throughout the entire ride, and everyone wanted to ride with him. Star Tours was mostly just making fun of him, saying light speed! and oh no, I thought we were going to crash into the ice! Ana and Simon were in the back leaning left and right into Kevin, who looked like he wanted to push them off. Autopia was okay, with Kevin in front and Ana behind, with Bonnie behind her and Lily and Natalie behind her. Shang didn’t know he didn’t have to steer, and got really scared when we started crashing into the tracks. We didn’t go on the Buzz Lightyear one though, because the line was too long. There was also the carousel, when the lady stole my horse, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, when I filmed the whole ride, complete with me and Kevin yelling “Oh shit!” every once in a while to spice things up, Matterhorn, when I took pictures of both the yetis, Indiana Jones, where we went through the last and best door and where they changed bits of it, and the skeletons coming out still scared me, Splash Mountain, where Ana was terrified and swore she would die because there were no seat belts, but she did our cute antennae face for the picture anyway, and the Jungle Cruise, where we had the funniest tour guide ever, who made our ride really fun with his jokes of the short-term memory thing with the African bull elephant being the most dangerous animal in the jungle. And the tiger, who we were safe from, because it can jump 50 feet, but we were 25 feet away, so it’ll never get to us. We went on the teacup ride and stuffed me, Kevin, Susan, Jenny and Shang into one cup, Ana, Natasha, Lily and Natalie in the other, which left Simon and Bonnie in their own cup. I love the new meaner Bonnie, because we can pick on her and she doesn’t just take it; she stands up and asserts herself now. We left around 6:30 to shop around Downtown Disney, and left a little over an hour later. It was absolutely hilarious that Shang screamed his way through the entire day and lost his voice in the process. But I’m not sure if that really counted as a loss, because he gained a voice that made him sound older and more his size. Bailey was so nice to offer to bring us there and back, but it completely sucked he didn’t get to come with us. Even though we never got to ride the Matterhorn at night, it was one of the best days ever, even though Disneyland got boring quickly. Good thing I never got that year pass. We made plans to go to Six Flags next year as we rode the tram back to the parking structure, where Shang declared his favorite rides were the first tram and the Winne-the-Pooh ride. We got to In-n’-Out and I didn’t care about being polite and waiting for the rest of them to get there; I just got in line and ordered. I tried the Animal Fries and didn’t like it and swore I’d go with just cheese fries next time. Animal was much too salty and I knew I’d be up later drinking and drinking lots of water, but I guess I was wrong. We recalled our day’s adventures with Bailey over the remainers of our cheaper dinner, and left for home, with my 8 favorite people and Bailey, who would be one of my favorites if he’d actually lived with us. I went to sleep happy, knowing I’d pay for it tomorrow and the rest of the week. It was well worth it and I’d never forget it.
